Focal Point: Beautiful solid bead style pendant, typical of the Toda tribals of the Nilgiris.

Name Inspiration: The necklace has been named after the legendary poetess “Avvaiyar” and in fact a name given to each of the three most predominant female poetesses that lived during the Sangam period (3rd century BCE) and the Chola period. The name come from the Tamil word “avvai” meaning old, elderly lady and “ar”, a prefix added for referring to someone respectable.

Item Decription: Featuring an elegantly beautiful Toda tribal bead pendant, this necklace is riot of bright coloured Carnelian and gorgeous gold speckled Lapis Lazuli stones, along with Sterling silver (92.5 % purity) over wax focal beads and sterling silver Bor beads. It is finished with a hammered Thai Karen Silver (97-99% purity) toggle clasp.

Length: 26 inches approx. (when measured around the neck from nape to tip of the necklace).
